Part Time Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector
The Town of Hill seeks qualified applicants for the position of Part Time Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector. Working under the administrative direction of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Issuing motor vehicle registrations, plates, and titles;
Issuing licenses, including Fish and Game and dogs;
Issuing vital records (birth, death, marriage);
Maintaining official municipal records;
Assist in facilitating elections, including voter registration
Most importantly, the successful candidate will provide a high level of customer service, ensuring that transactions are processed efficiently and accurately and that inquiries are resolved and information is provided in a positive manner to all stakeholders, including the residents, town departments, boards, committees, and the general public.
The Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector shall, in the absence of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector, perform the duties, have the powers and be subject to the training and legal requirements and penalties applicable to the Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who has excellent cash handling and computer skills, will be highly organized and detail orientated; focused on customer service, and opportunities to enhance operation procedures; and must be bondable. The ability to handle sensitive information, employ good judgment and communicate effectively is essential. Days and hours of work may vary from time to time. A high school degree is required, an Associate’s degree in accounting or business is preferable; 2-3 years of progressively increased responsibility in applicable office operations; experience in a municipality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Per State statute, must be a resident of the Town of Hill.
Must have strong communication skills and be able to work cooperatively with all Town departments. This is a part-time position, typically working up to 10 hours weekly after training is complete.
